How to "Create Animals" on the eShepherd Web App

Once your Neckband order has been processed at the Gallagher Warehouse, the Neckbands will be assigned to your eShepherd Account using their serial numbers.

On the eShepherd Web App, the Neckbands will appear in the Neckbands -> Unfitted Neckbands menu. You will see all of their unique identification numbers.

These numbers are also laser etched onto the Neckband itself.

And finally, each Neckband has an RFID chip inside it with this same unique identification number (UID). This RFID chip is similar to other animal Electronic Identification (EID) chips / tags that can be 'read' using a handheld EID reader. Note that the Neckband does not need to unhibernated to be able to read the RFID chip inside the Neckband.

Once the Neckbands are Unhibnernated (turned ON) they will start reporting their current location and they will appear as green triangles in the Map view.

The next step is to "associate a Neckband with an Animal" or create a pairing between the Neckband and the animal that is wearing that Neckband.

Note: If you are not interested in knowing which neckband is on which animal, then we can skip this "association" process and just use the Neckband serial number as the identifier of the animal in the eShepherd Web App.

This process can be done in several ways

  • By using the mobile phone app and a hand held EID reader
  • By creating a "Single Animal" in the Animals menu
  • By using the "Bulk Create" spreadsheet to enter the details

⚠️Note: If you are not interested in knowing which neckband is on which animal, then we can skip this "association" process and just use the Neckband serial number as the identifier of the animal in the eShepherd Web App.

You can find detailed instructions for each of the three methods on the following pages

  • Neckband Association using the Mobile Phone and EID Reader (WIP)
  • Neckband Association using the Create Single Animal menu (see video below)
  • Neckband Association using the Bulk Create Spreadsheet
