How to Schedule Virtual Paddocks so they turn on automatically
In this video, you will learn how to put your virtual paddocks into a schedule so that they turn on automatically at the time of your choosing.
Setting Up a Schedule
To create a schedule for virtual paddocks, start by selecting the Schedule menu. First, choose the mob (group of animals) you want to move. For example, if you're managing a group of heifers, select them, then choose the next virtual paddock for them to move into. Set the schedule by selecting the paddock and specifying when the move should happen, typically one day after the current paddock.
If you want to add another move after that, you can repeat the process by selecting the next paddock and setting the time frame. You can also adjust the number of days an animal will stay in each paddock. Continue adding scheduled moves until all paddocks are accounted for.
Editing and Managing Scheduled Moves
If you need to adjust the schedule, you can easily edit any entry by changing the number of days or modifying the paddock. Once all paddocks are set in the schedule, the system will automatically activate and deactivate them according to the specified time.
Scheduling for Multiple Mobs
To schedule moves for another mob, such as an Angus cow group, follow the same process: add a new schedule, select the mob, and choose the virtual paddock. You can also specify the time of day for the move and how long the paddock will be active.
Viewing and Filtering Schedules
Once you've set up schedules, you can view them in the Scheduled Moves list. This list shows all upcoming paddock activations for different mobs. You can filter the schedule to focus on a particular mob, such as the heifers or Angus cows, by selecting the mob name from the filter menu.
Avoiding Scheduling Mistakes
Be cautious when scheduling moves between virtual paddocks that have no overlap. If animals are left outside the new paddock, it can cause confusion. It's best to avoid scheduling a move where animals might be left behind in an exclusion zone without overlap into the new paddock. For more on managing this situation, refer to the Return to Paddock feature, covered in another video.
By following these steps, you can effectively use the scheduling feature to manage your animals' movement between virtual paddocks automatically.
