# Importing Map Layers with "My Layers"

The eShepherd web app lets you import your own map layers, separate from physical fences. While Physical Fences are used to define actual fence lines that eShepherd recognises as containment boundaries, **My Layers** lets you upload any other feature you'd like to see on the map — construction grids for high-intensity grazing, paddock plans, property boundaries, or anything else relevant to your farm. These layers are for reference only and don't affect containment.

#### Importing Physical Fences (recapping the standard / existing process)

Go to the **Infrastructure** menu and select **Physical Fences**. This opens the Physical Fences side panel.

At the bottom of the panel, click the **+** button and select **Upload**.

Drag your KML file into the dialogue box to import your physical fences.

#### Importing Other Map Layers with My Layers

For any other feature you'd like to add to the map, use the new **My Layers** feature:

Click the **Layers** button in the top-left corner of the map, and then choose **+Upload My Layer**

Drag your file into the dialogue box to upload it. Supported formats are **GeoJSON, KML, and KMZ, up to 10MB**.

Now that your new Layer has been imported, show it on the map by enabling the check mark box (like any other layer).
