# Updating a Neckband's Location in the eShepherd Mobile App

This guide is for the eShepherd **mobile app**. It shows you how to update a neckband's location on the map yourself.

When a neckband stops communicating, it stays on the map where it was last seen. Even after you find it and move it, the map keeps showing the old spot. Updating the location fixes this, so your map shows where your neckbands really are.

You can update the location of any neckband, fitted or unfitted, but it's most useful for neckbands that have stopped communicating.

###### Step 1 — Select the Neckband

1. Open the **eShepherd Mobile App** on your device.
2. On the map, Select the Animal or Neckband you want to move.
3. A card opens at the bottom of the screen with the **Close**, **Track**, **Change mob** and **Update** buttons.

###### Step 2 — Tap "Update"

1. Tap **Update**.
2. The **Update Location** menu opens, with three options:
* **To Landmark Location**
* **To My Current Location**
* **Use Current View**

###### Step 3 — Choose Where to Move It

**Option A — To Landmark Location**
* Use this to move the neckband to one of your saved landmarks.

1. Tap **To Landmark Location**.
2. Tap **Select a landmark** to open your list of landmarks.
3. Tap the landmark you want. You can also tap the **search** icon to find it by name.
4. The map moves to that landmark so you can check it's the right spot.

**Best for:**
* Neckbands kept in a shed, office, or other storage spot you've already saved as a landmark.

**Option B — To My Current Location**
* Use this if you are **standing where the neckband is**.
* The app uses your phone's GPS to set the location to where you are.

**Best for:**
* Updating a neckband while you're out in the paddock with it.

**Option C — Use Current View**
* Use this if you are **not on-site**.
* The app uses the map you're looking at, so you can set the location without being there.

| Tip: To zoom, place two fingers on the screen and drag them apart. This helps you get the location exactly right.

###### Step 4 — Save

1. Tap **Save**.
2. A green message appears: **Location update sent. The map may take a moment to show the new position.**
3. The neckband now shows at its new location.

###### Good to Know

* **One neckband at a time.** You can only update one neckband's location at a time. Bulk updates aren't available.
* **Live location comes back.** When a neckband starts communicating again, the map goes back to showing its live location.
* **Mobile app only for now.** This feature is coming to the Web App later.

| Tip: Use a landmark for places where you store neckbands, like a shed or office. Then you can move them there in a couple of taps.

###### Neckband Stopped Communicating?

Updating the location only changes where the neckband shows on the map. It doesn't fix a neckband that has stopped working.

If a neckband hasn't communicated for more than 3 days, see **Neckbands that Stop Working** for what to do next, including how to unfit it and arrange a warranty replacement.

## Summary

This guide shows how to update a neckband's location from the mobile app using a saved landmark, your current location, or the current map view. It's a quick way to keep your map accurate, especially for neckbands that have stopped communicating.
