Questions & Answers
Q: Creating virtual paddocks is a little cumbersome and time consuming.
A: Using the 'Copy' feature allows you to take a copy of an existing virtual fence and this will give you a head start of creating your next one! You can then extend the grazing area by just moving the 'leading edge' of the fence. Note that you can also 'copy' an active virtual fence, allowing you to make changes and send this updated virtual paddock to your animals.
Q: A feature to show the area within a paddock as it is being drawn would be very beneficial in making it more efficient.
A: The area is shown at the bottom of the virtual fence editor window. The Total Area shows you the total area of the virtual paddock that you have drawn, and the Grazing Area shows you the area excluding any area outside of the physical fences.
Q: Is there going to be a function to add more exclusion zones within a paddock?
A: Yes, we are developing capabilities to define permanent exclusion zones. These features require changes to our communication protocols (as this is more information that needs to be sent to neckbands) and will take a little while before this becomes available.
Q: Can the 'corner cut off method' be used to create rounded or contoured exclusion zones for managing landscape challenges?
A: Yes, for any virtual paddock there are 30 'fence posts' available to define the inclusion zone and another 30 'fence posts' to define one exclusion zone. You can use these to draw any weird and wonderful shape that you need to follow the contours of your landscape.
