How to create a virtual paddock on the mobile app

This article shows you how to draw and save a virtual paddock using the eShepherd mobile app. Virtual paddocks let you define custom grazing areas digitally, so you can manage your land and mob without moving physical fences.

Step 1

Step 1. From the map screen, tap the orange plus icon in the bottom toolbar to open the menu. Step 2. Tap Add VP to start a new virtual paddock.

Step 2

Step 3. The map enters virtual paddock mode. A crosshair appears with a Select starting point prompt, and the bottom panel shows the VP Name field (pre-filled with a timestamp you can edit).

Step 3

Step 4. Pan the map to position the crosshair where you want the first corner of your paddock. Tap the orange Add button to place the starting point.

Step 4

Step 5. Pan the map and tap Add again to place each additional corner. The running paddock area (in hectares) appears in the bottom panel as you build the shape.

Step 5

Step 6. To complete the shape, pan the crosshair back onto your starting point. The Add button changes to Close — tap it to close the paddock.

Step 6

Step 7. The completed paddock appears with corner points and midpoint indicators on every edge. Drag any point to fine-tune the boundary. Step 8. When you're happy with the shape, tap the Save icon to finalise the paddock.

Step 7

Step 9. A Virtual paddock created confirmation appears at the top of the screen, and your new paddock is shown on the map as a yellow dashed outline.

Summary

This guide covers drawing, closing, and saving a virtual paddock from scratch on the mobile app. Virtual paddocks are a core feature for digitally managing grazing areas, letting you adjust your property layout flexibly without moving physical fences.
