How to schedule a VP for a mob on the mobile app
This Mobile App guide shows you how to schedule a future move for one of your mobs. Scheduling moves ahead of time lets you plan grazing rotations in advance. Your animals will automatically shift to the next paddock at the time you set.
This guide covers the mobile app. On a computer, the steps are different, see How to activate a VP move for a mob: Schedule or ASAP instead.
Step 1. From the map screen, tap Mobs in the bottom toolbar to open the mobs list. | Step 2. Select the mob you want to schedule. The mob panel will open showing the current virtual paddock and MOVES (0). | Step 3. Tap the orange + Add New Schedule Move button at the bottom of the panel. |

Step 4. Select the destination virtual paddock from the grid. The mob's current paddock is highlighted in orange. | Step 5. The calendar will open with a default start time. Adjust the start date and time as needed. | Step 6. Tap the END card and adjust the end date and time using the circular time picker. |

Note: On the mobile app, you set the end time directly. Unlike the web app, your Duration isn't something you choose, it's simply worked out from your start and end times.
Step 7. (Optional) Toggle Until further notice on to leave the move open-ended. The mob will stay in the new paddock until you cancel or schedule another move. | Step 8. Tap Save at the bottom. A green Scheduled move created message confirms the schedule, and the MOVES count on the mob panel will update. | |

Best practices for scheduling VP
Your new VP needs to fully cover your current one. Every move after your first needs to completely overlap the paddock before it, eShepherd won't let you pick one that doesn't, unless Return to Paddock is turned on. This keeps the mob's paddock growing forward into fresh ground instead of jumping to a separate spot where animals could end up outside the fence. See Virtual Paddock rules for scheduling and Move Plans for the full rules. Note the Move Plan part of that article is a web app feature.
Allow enough time between scheduled VPs. If you're chaining multiple scheduled VPs, give the mob enough time to settle into each Virtual Paddock before the next one triggers. For example, if you're opening a fresh grazing area, allow enough time for all animals to find and move through the new boundary before scheduling the back fence to close in behind them.
Note: This schedules one-off moves for a mob. Move Plans (rotations you build once and reuse) are currently a web app feature. Hop on your computer and check out How to manage Move Plans if that's what you need.
Summary
This guide explains how to schedule a future move for a mob in the eShepherd Mobile App. Scheduled moves let you plan grazing rotations in advance, automating paddock transitions and reducing the need to manually move stock between virtual paddocks.
