How to manage scheduled VP moves

This guide covers how to create, edit, and cancel scheduled VP moves for a mob. Once a schedule is set up, eShepherd moves the mob automatically at each planned time without you needing to be there. You can chain as many moves as you need, adjust times after the fact, and cancel individual moves or the entire schedule.

For a quick intro on how to create your first scheduled move, see How to schedule a VP move for a mob.

Creating a scheduled move

Step 1. From the Mobs panel, tick the checkbox next to the mob you want to schedule. Tap the Turn On VP button in the bottom toolbar.

Step 1

Step 2. The Next Move dialog opens. Set the Type to VP. Choose your VP from the dropdown, set the Duration (how long the mob stays in that paddock), and confirm the Start Time.

Step 2

Step 3. Tap the VP dropdown to see your full list of virtual paddocks. The selected paddock will highlight on the map so you can confirm it is the right one.

Step 3

Step 4. Under Duration, choose either For (a set number of days and hours) or Until further notice (no fixed end time, the mob stays until you manually move them). Tick Add another scheduled move to chain the next move immediately after.

Step 4

Step 5. A Scheduled Move added confirmation appears at the top of the dialog. The form resets for the next move, and Existing Schedules shows what is already queued. Set the next VP and duration.

Step 5

Step 6. When you are done, close the dialog. The Mobs panel shows the full schedule for the mob: the current active paddock, then each upcoming move in order with its date, time, duration, and destination.

Step 6

Reading the schedule queue

Each line in the mob's schedule shows:

  • The destination VP (tap to highlight it on the map)
  • The scheduled start date and time
  • The duration in brackets, for example (14 Hours)
  • (∞) if the move was set to Until further notice

Editing a scheduled move

You can change the start time of any upcoming move directly from the Mobs panel without opening the Next Move dialog.

Step 7. Hover over a scheduled move in the queue. A pencil (edit) icon and a bin (delete) icon appear on the right. Tap the pencil icon to edit.

Step 7

Step 8. The row expands inline to show the Start date and time fields. Adjust as needed and tap the orange tick to save. The end time of the previous move updates automatically to match.

Step 8

Step 9. You can edit any move in the queue this way, including the last one. Changing a move's start time shifts that move only. Subsequent moves are not affected.

Step 9

Cancelling a scheduled move

Tapping the bin icon on any scheduled move will cancel that move and all subsequent ones in the queue. This is because each move is chained: removing one breaks the chain from that point forward.

Step 10. Tap the bin icon next to the move you want to cancel. A confirmation dialog appears: Deleting this scheduled move will cancel all upcoming moves for the mob. Tap Delete to confirm.

Step 10

Step 11. The move and all subsequent moves are removed from the queue. The last remaining move in the schedule shows No further schedules, meaning the mob will stay in that paddock until you manually schedule the next move.

Step 11

Deactivating the current VP

If you want to take the mob off their current VP entirely, use the Deactivate button (the power icon in the bottom toolbar of the Mobs panel). This ends the active VP immediately and cancels all subsequent scheduled moves in the queue.

Use this when plans change and you want to start fresh, rather than editing each future move individually.

VP borders on the map

When a schedule is active, the map shows different border styles for each VP state:

  • Solid orange border: the VP the mob is currently in (active)
  • Dashed orange on black outline: the next scheduled VP
  • Dashed yellow on black outline: future scheduled VPs further down the queue

Step 12

This makes it easy to see your planned rotation at a glance without opening the Mobs panel.

Summary

Your schedule is now set up and running — eShepherd will move the mob automatically at each planned time. You can adjust start times, add more moves to the queue, or cancel from any point in the chain without touching the moves before it.
